Reason:Lasagna with garlic ingestionHistory:Seven-month-old male entire Golden Retriever presented 20 to 30 minutes after ingesting a large amount of lasagna with garlic. No other major medical history.Subjective:Very bright and alertObjective:TPR: WNL, MM: moist, CRT: 2 seconds, <5% dehydrated.EENT: Clear AU/OU. No nasal discharge.PLN: Soft, symmetrical, normal size/character.Cardiovascular: No heart murmurs, regular rhythm, strong synchronous pulses, well-perfused with warm distal extremities.Pulmonary: Clear lung sounds.Abdomen: Comfortable on abdominal palpation.Musculoskeletal: Ambulatory x4 with no obvious lameness.Assessment:Lasagna with garlic ingestionPlan:- Apomorphine administered to induce emesis - successful, vomited significant amount of lasagna- Metoclopramide 0.5mg/kg subcutaneously administered- Bland diet for next two days, then slowly return to normal diet- Monitor for signs of potential pancreatitis given high fat content of meal, though risk relatively low as most content vomited- Return for reassessment if vomiting, inappetence, or tense abdomen developsClient Communication:Owner advised to monitor for signs of potential pancreatitis including vomiting, inappetence, or tense abdomen and to seek veterinary reassessment if these signs develop. Discussed that risk is relatively low given successful emesis of most ingested material.
