Bruno's mum had chewed off a part of his L ear. Owner elected conserative rather than surgical management. AEC placed a bandage over ear, and sent home with E collar, Clavulox, Meloxicam and Neurontin to keep Bruno calmBruno is doing ok, seems a bit sooky at night and cries a littleEDDU ok no v/dExamine: Cardioresp: NADEyes: NADEars: L ear bandage has come off, was around his neck when coming into consult. L ear has a significant portion of pinna missing, around 2-3cm chunk missing. Some dried blood around pinna but not swollen or infectedMM pinkTeeth cleanSkin otherwise nadMSK NADEntire male, two testes presentAssessment: Ear pinna wound healingTreatment: Removed bandage from around his neck, did not replace bandage as ear looks ok and unlikely he will keep it onSuggest obtaining a snood type head scarf to prevent him shaking/scratching at his ear- warned risk of aural haematoma if he scratches/shakes his ear.
